Wheaton's Law Stitchery!

Ah, Mr. Wil Wheaton.
He came up with such a concise world view it staggers the mind.
A sort of manifesto phrase that really seemed to catch on. There's even a Don't be a Dick Day, which makes me smile.

I thought I was being super clever by having ducks on it. 

Ducks, dicks....in my mind it was a 

gentrifying thing.

Tetris Stitchery!

I did this Tetris cross stitch a while ago for the Husband,
and funnily enough...
It never made it out of my crafty cave.

I seem to remember the inspiration came from Sprite Stitch. That's a really cool website full of video game crafts! The original said "Sh*t Happens". I chose the phrase "Such is Life" instead because it seems to be the mantra of my in-laws.

Not an all together bad outlook on life!

My stitching is a bit wonky. Looking back, I could have blocked it better and perhaps only used one thread in the needle rather than two. But, the entire goal here was to experience the joys of cross stitching on BLACK AIDA CLOTH.

The results....Black Aida cloth sucks to stitch on!!!

Knitted (AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET TO LITTLEST PET SHOP) Pouch

So, the Best Mother In Law Ever!!! asked me to knit up a little * Shaun the Sheep-type pouch * for the awesome Kait (pronouced Kate) next door for christmas.

Kait has a love for The Littlest Petshop she shares with Morgan. I thought that would make a great motif.
But...
(and isn't there always one of those)
there hasn't yet been alot of stitching done for TLP, and not for a lack of searching for inspiration.

So,
I had to improvise.

Her favorite color is PINK!

I lined the bag with some cool fabric given to me from a past swapping partner.

Here's my chart I whipped up for the duplicate stitching.

I found a perler bead pattern pretty close to what I was looking for and made one or two tweaks.

I just looooove graph paper notebooks!

Will As He Sees Himself

We had a conference for Will's preschool the other day.

This is his self portrait.

At first, I thought he just couldn't be bothered with drawing a face when there was so much playing to be done.

 

Then on closer inspection....

I think he was just trying to write his name!

Winter Scarves

In the Winter Scarf Swap on craftster I had the privilege to knit for Thimbles71.

Signing up for this swap, I kind of always had in mind to do an Infinity Scarf. I'd never knit one before and I really like the way they look.

Thimbles said she didn't have any cowls or infinities, but liked them and wanted to give them a whirl.

So, I made both for her.

 The White Infinity Scarf is done on #13's with a white worsted and chenille knit together.
If memory serves, I did a 1x2 rib pattern for 48 inches or so.
Did a little twist, then joined the 2 ends with a single crochet stitch.

I think this might be my new fave stash buster scarf!

Now for the cowl.

I had noticed on my partner's pinterest hedgehogs were popping up here and there. Inspiration hits!

I had also never done DOUBLE KNITTING before (Oooooo...double knitting...)

This cowl did not start out life as a cowl. 

The plan was to do a scarf and have the hedgehogs go all the way through.

I had gotten 1/2 way through the motif and realized this was going to be WAY to wide.

After consulting with Lisa and Melissa (my crafty guru bouncing ideas off of lady-friends extraordinaire), we 

came up with the cowl. I just picked up the stitches on the sides and did a basket weave pattern to the appropriate length cowl-wise.

Did some button holes for a join and found some really cool black/white buttons at Joanns. They reminded me of Sherlock's Wallpaper.  

(Totally forgot to take pics of those buttons...boo! Bad crafter!)

Here's the other side.

Voila! Double knitting! 

This makes it reversible, but I think the hedgehog looks a bit "sheepish" on this side.

Hmmmm, what else can I double knit?

Napkin Doodle

I've been drawing little pictures on the napkins in Morgan's school lunch.
Typically, I'll just use the napkin to wipe out the inside of the lunch box and then toss 'em in the trash.

Lee then asked if I was saving them because he though they were pretty cool.

    

I figured it would be a little less "ant-friendly" to take pictures for saving them instead.
