Amyrlin Seat Cowl

"She comes; she comes! The Watcher of the Seals, the Flame of Tar Valon, the Amyrlin Seat. Attend you all, for she comes!"

Made for Melissa in the 2015 Knit Nite Xmas Swap. Inspiration: Wheel of Time Amyrlin Seat Stole.

Simple crochet, from yarn I already had. All 7 Ajahs represented!

The Wheel of Time of course is a book series by Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson after Jordan's death before the last couple of books). Melissa is a fan, and she digs sassy, take charge women like Siuan Sanche...therefore needs a stole/cowl that kings bow before!

The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legends fade to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the third age by some, an Age yet to come, an age long pass, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

GOT Dragonscale Gloves!

Does the  Mother of Dragons get cold?
Probably not cold enough for full on mittens,
but sometimes her wrist may get a bit chilly...

(And if what I hope happens in the future, she'll be
flying those Dragons to the Wall and it's crazy cold up there!)

Here are some Fingerless Gloves based on her Dragon Rhaegal.

Behold, the Glory that is Rhaegal!

The Details:
I hooked these up for my partner in the Game of Thrones Swap, IsikkahJai.
The pattern was kind of whipped up by me after a LOT of
trial and error.
I didn't write it down...
I think I was just happy to have them done.
(I kept on getting the thumb on the wrong side)

All yarn is from my stash.
I think the Green is DK weight?

The use of the Crocodile Stitch was what cinched this
as a definite make after learning it for the Pixie Hat I'd just made.

For the Bronze Scale effect:
I had some ribbon-ish novelty "yarn" and I just
weaved it through the Crocodile Stitch rows at their base.
I like the effect of them just peeking through.

Just for cuteness sake,
here are the Dragons as little babies.
Awwwwww!

(Until she utters...Dracarys.)

Pixie Hat!

This Enchanting Hat was made for the Enchanted Forest/Woodland Swap!

Ha!
I'm the Enchantress for making such wordplay!

This was my first foray into the Crocheted Crocodile Stitch.
I love it, it was challenging but with a nice payoff.

The Details:
This was knit off of Pia Thadani's Crocodile Pixie Hat Pattern.
I found it free over on Ravelry.
Here's the link: Crocodile Pixie Hat

One note about the pattern.
I found it to run small...So be warned, true believer!
Otherwise, it was well written, easy to follow.

The yarn was a Rowan Baby Wool+Mohair I found in my stash.
I remember when I first started knitting I'd made a shrug out of
the green stuff. Well...this particular shrug was never really worn
so I frogged it and kept the yarn for a special purpose.

I'm sorry to not have an "action" shot.
The Pixies were quite evasive that day.

Crochet Hoop of Sunshiny Goodness!

With the abundance of Snow piled on us today
I thought a Sunshine Crochet Hoop
would be in order!

This was a little "extra" for SonjaBoo in the
Box Full of Sunshine swap.

I just took a Thrift Store Hoop and some
yellow Stash Yarn and crocheted around it.

Sure, it was a bit awkward at times
(the hoop was one of those old metal ones)
but I enjoyed using something
for a totally different purpose than what it was intended for.

So while I'm flabbergasted by the amount of snow
outside my window and long for the sun...

I wouldn't want all this white stuff to melt.
First of all, the inevitable flooding would reek havok!
Second of all it's Thanksgiving!
I should be able to put up with the snow until at least Jan 1st.

Then Snow better beat it.
Snow and I are not friends after Christmas.

You know nothing...Snow!

Elsa Ami!

Let it Go!
This was hooked up for Grindhousehussy19 in the last Frozen Swap on Craftster.

Elsa is such a favorite,
Halloween became a big game of "How many Elsa Costumes did you see?"!

I think I counted a good 20.

I adapted Sahrit Freud-Weinstein's
Merida Amigurumi princess doll crochet pattern on Ravelry
to Elsa's look.

Her Cape is just a simple Granny Square in sparkly silver stash yarn
turned on its point and sewn on.

But wow, did I get super carried away with her hair!
I just kept adding and adding and then,
when done,
I realized I needed to use some serious magic
to braid the mane of icy wonder.

Enter my fantastic friend of Winter, Melissa!

It was a tough braid to achieve with all
my different length strands going on.

So a big Thank You to Melissa!
You're worth melting for!

Weeping Angel Amigurumi for Heather!

Hooked this little lady up for a special little lady's
birthday whose husband is super creeped out by all things Weeping Angel...

So a "win-win" in my book!

My friend, and fellow Coffee Hag Knit Nite attendee, Heather
had a birthday.

And a love of Amigurumi with an affection for Doctor Who.

As well as the unfortunate judgement to share with
me an anecdote of how her husband freaked over the Weeping Angels.

I'd found my gifty mission!

Super great and easy to follow pattern by Shirley MacDonald
over on Ravelry.

This particular Angel was very cooperative in posing for me.
She didn't squirm around and always stood still when asked.
What a delightful photo shoot subject she was.

Keep Your Coffee Warm I Do, Yoda Cozy

Clever Coffee Cozies, a great deal I like.
Unexpected it is.
Hmmm?

As an extra in the Frozen swap I hooked this up.

GrindHouseHussy and I had one pinned and I had to give it a try.

WAIT!

Try not.
Do or do not...
There is no try!

My inspiration was taken from this wonderful Etsy Seller:

I left off  the arms and feet, but I love his cute little face!

Tea Swap Crochet!

Did some fun crochet for Donniesgirl in the I <3 Tea swap recently...

A Cup Cozy.
And look, it has its own tea bag tag!

I used the "Cup of Tea" Coffee Mug Cozy with Non-Slip Backing
by Rhonda Greene on ravelry. ((Here's the rav link)
I didn't do the Non-Slip Backing bit.

Also Hooked up were a trio of Granny Square Dishcloths.

Made out of Dishcloth Cotton...of course.

My hooky friend, Barb, once commented in passing she likes to
crochet dishcloths instead of knit. That the looser stitches allow for
better air drying and less moldy smell.

I'm agreeing with her on this point!
I just get irritated when I have this lovely soft handmade cloth and within weeks
it seems to stiffen up and stink!

Also, Borax helps heaps with this. (wink)

To send some tea bags for my swap partner I
didn't want to use just any zippy bag,
so I tarted them up a bit.

One of her favorite movies is Sixteen Candles.
I am a fan too, being an 80's kid...totally!

I just printed out an image small enough to fit in the bag,
then traced over with Sharpies.

Its a very subtle effect unless you have a white background like my bedspread here.

PS: This movie rules. If you've ever been a teenager or have an
ounce of humor in you...reminisce with me, won't you?

Farmer Ted, FTW!

Crochet Daisies!

I  hooked up a crazy amount of crochet daisies for SonjaBoo's
Sunshine Swap package recently.

They made a great box filler!

I can't wait to recover this ugly ottoman!

I had made so many, I decided to grab a few to make
hair clips for Morgan's Daisy Scout Troop.

The clips were just hot glued to the back.
When I did a test run in my own hair, they didn't fall apart
so I took that as a good sign 7yr olds could wear them.

We're just winding up the Girl Scout Cookie sales this year.
I'm pretty happy with our selling as last year we were
really unmotivated to sell.

Morgan even sold enough to "donate" some boxes!

Scouts has been really good for her as it's the one activity she's in
with girls from her own school.
She's made some cute friends and is always excited to go...

I'll be a little sad if they decide to disband the group after this year.
(Sigh)

Cptn America Baby Sweater!

For those in the States, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July yesterday!
For those in the international realm, I hope your Thursday was full of AWESOMENESS!!!

So in the spirit of 'Merica; a little Captain America project...

Here's the last installment in my Carla's Spell Your Name Swap Round 10 package!
2nd part of letter "C" for
Children's Costumed Crime Fighter's Cache!!!

Her son wasn't born yet, but everyone knew something super was going on...

The badge was hooked up out of my super brain.

The knitting pattern used was from the magnificent book: Mason Dixon Knitting.
I used white cotton dishcloth yarn so it will be nice and absorbent for newborn issues!
(heh heh.)

I even happened to have the most PERFECT button in my stash!

Carla, I hope your baby boy is SUPER IN EVERY WAY!!!

Damn, look at that jawline!

I think what Agent Coulson said could be applied to a lot of areas in my life right now:

"With everything that happening, the things that about to come to light,
people might just need a little old fashioned."

Crochet Mike Wazowski!

40 pts for the Nerd Games.
June Multimedia...Disco!

This prompt was to make something sparkly...
As we're all super excited about Monsters University and all things
Mike Wazowski, Sully's Disco Ball prank had to be represented in crochet.

It must be so.

I started out with the Mike you see below and then gave him a sleeve of
FABULOUS!

I also added a little sparkle to his eye. ;)

Here's the trailer inspiration:

Capt Jack Sparrow Crochet!

I hooked and I hooked...
But where's all the rum gone?

Good old Jack Sparrow.
I whipped this little guy up with no pattern at all! Just out of my little pea-brain...for Will...because he's cute!
Also, I entered it in the Nerd Games May Battle Royale: Pirates v/s Ninjas for a whopping 55 pts.
Pirates won!

I opted for no facial hair as Will was LOVING the Wii game "Disney Universe"
and the Capt Jack is devoid of the stuff.

Capt Jack's....BOOTY!

Sure, it's not the Black Pearl but a man needs a boat!
Savvy?!!

I did actually write everything down in case I wanted
to make this bad boy again.

Perhaps, I'll post it if I can make any coherency that would
make sense to anyone but me.

Today is going to be a Jackerrific Day!

Jake the Dog Crochet

Oh that Jake the Dog!
I crocheted this up for Will's birthday from the LucyRavenscar pattern found here. (Etsy Shop PDF)

Let me just say her patterns are well worth the money! So well written and she gets them to you SUPER FAST!

Jake looks VERY dapper in his fedora. Takes after his old man!
Fedora Hat is actually a flower pot turned upside down
hooked up by The Melissa.
I think I need to borrow that pattern so Jake can step out
Indy Style!

Poor Jake, gets a tapestry needle to the head.
This, and the above pic were taken at Knit Nite.
You can see our drinks...YUM Coffee Hag!

Jake after a CRAZY night with Shawn the Sheep ...
Just how did Shawn's underpants end up there?

Will's been having "Ooo-dles" of fun with his Jake.
Now I just need to get around to finishing Finn (It's been almost a year long WIP).
Sigh.

Rainbow Bridge Afghan!

It's done and worth 45 pts in the Summer Nerd Games!

I based her Bifrost Blanket off of Thor's Rainbow Bridge.

The May Fandom Challenge was to finish up a WIP (work in progress),
because as Nerdy Nerds we often wait for that next book, season, game to come out.
We will wait forever...
when does Sherlock Series 3 come out again???

Here's where I was last week. If you scroll back up it's the teal row on the left side.
I was SO close to finishing!

So glad this challenge came along, otherwise I would've NEVER wanted to work on it
when the weather got hot.
Also, I didn't want to leave Morgan hanging.

I teach her to finish what she starts, I should do the same.
Right?

Here's the trim, nothing fancy but it's my first attempt at "squaring off" a ripple!

As an extra personal bonus...
MORGAN LOVES HER BIFROST BLANKIE!
supermom level achieved.

Will luigi hat part 2

Way back at Christmas time, I had made a doubled up dk strand version of this hat. (post link)
It was indeed too small and seemed to make his eyes want to POP out of his head with how we would squeeze that hat atop his head!

A new, bigger hat was in order.
First off I removed the "L" patch.

totally reusable!

I used a Kermit Green Red Heart yarn which is much closer to Luigi's signature green and the thicker yarn was the answer to the tight squeeze.

His head feels happy!

Loves his Luigi SO much he made Luigi Easter Eggs this year!

Happy Head makes for a happy boy!

There was just no getting around remaking this hat.
I finished it around Easter (hence the eggs) and he's worn it more often than not.

It's so nice to be appreciated in one's own time.
;)
