Werewolf Stitchery!

A Werewolf Hoopla I stitched up for dfabbric in the Halloween Ninni Swap Oct '12!

The image is from Urban Threads and I did a thick chain stitch for the outline and filled in with fabric marker.

GRRRRRRRR!!!

Which is a bit of commentary on how I'm doing today.
The husband is putting in a new kitchen floor this week and the banging is driving me
dangerously close to insanity!

I'm sure many of you out there can feel my pain...
Let's all let out a resounding....
GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

There, I feel better.
Do you?

Compassion Prayer Flag

Here we are for Round 3 of the Prayer Flag Swap on craftster.
I opted for 1 partner this time instead of 2 and wound up with an awesome one in "Alwaysinmyroom"

Here's the Flag I crafted up for her:

The word "Compassion" was one she chose because a reminder is always appreciated.
I think I need this reminder too.

When I stitch something up like this, I tend to personalize the theme into myself.
I just told a good friend today "Crafty Therapy is the BEST therapy"!
It's helped me through some things, and I know I'm better for it.

I used a few metal scrapbook findings for the butterflies and loved the effect!
The lettering is free motion embroidery.
It's the first time I've tried stitching a word using the technique.
The word font is a Lord of the Rings-ish one I love for open block letters.

Thanks for checking it out, and may compassion rule the day!

Amigurumi Gandhi!

A phrase that's as fun to say as it was to hook up!

This was for the Craft Your Favorite Quote Swap back in Jul '11.

I changed the color of the yarn from the Nosferatu pattern from the book "Creepy Cute Crochet " by Christian Haden.

That Gandhi is such a cutie patooti!

Truthy Truth!

Psych Mug Rug!

I made a Mug Rug For Ms. Averia in the IYP R22 Swap!

Psych has consistently been one of my favorite shows. It's so silly and goofy!
It's also how Averia and I came to be craftster buddies. We were paired up in the Psych Swap a few years ago (YEARS! EEK!) and I think of her as a "Psycho Kindred Spirit".

I used my trusty fabric markers for the image.

The backing fabric is from leftover fabric from a Morgan skirt I up-cycled from a Thrift Store Pillowcase.
I've gotten a great deal out of that 25 cents!

Psych just started their 7th season on the USA channel.
I highly recommend it for a silly sleuthing good time!!!

Here, they'll introduce themselves....

Soot Sprite Sunglasses Case!

Soot Sprites (wiki link), have been on my brain lately.
We've recently becomed obsessed with My Neighbor Totoro in our house!

As Will has really been great with his glasses, I've been looking into crafty accessories.
How simple to decoupage fun-ness on a hard glasses case from the thrift!

This particular case I made for Queenofmarigold in IYPR22 Swap.
(Totoro was one of our themes)

I used old phone book strips for the background and grosgrain ribbon (cut in 1/2) for the trim.
The Sprites and Stars are drawn on with my Sharpies!
Or "Mom Markers" as they're called around here.

This turned out to be such a relaxing thing, I'm excited to make one for
the car, his bedroom, my bedroom, the swim bag, his backpack, grandma's house......
(I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of nooks and crannys)

Sexy Sherlock Stitchery!

At the beginning of 2013 my Facebook newsfeed popped up something fun!
One of my friends posted that the first 5 people to respond would get something handmade at some point during the year.

The only catch was they needed to repost and do something handcrafted for the first 5 who responded to theirs.

The game was afoot!

I posted and got a couple of replies....Soooooo:

This is for my friend Sally who lives in Australia!!!

We usually nerd out over Doctor Who, but the SAME DAY she responded to my facebook post she repinned some of my pinterest Sherlockian pins.
(can I use the word "pin" a bit more???)

Here's to "patiently" waiting until Fall 2013 for Series 3!

Mario "?" Block Bag!

What's in this bag? There's a question mark on it, so it could be ANYTHING!

I made this for Queenofmarigold in the Invite Your Partner Round 22: Crafting with the Glitz Swap.
It's another first for me, making an image entirely out of buttons.
The bag pattern itself was based off the basic Morsbag pattern. That's Morsbag is a revolution! (Look it up, it really is!)

I liked doing the buttons. Luckily, I picked their size perfectly for the pixels!
In looking back, (to tell the truth I knew it right when I did it)
I WOULD SEW THE BUTTONS ON BEFORE SEWING THE BAG INTO A BAG!

Bowser was clouding my brain that day.
Must've been him.

3 Amigos Hoop!

Here's a Hoopla I stitched up for the Lovely Averia in the IYP R22 Swap!

We had joked in a past swap thread long ago about a 3 Amigos hoop and I decided to stitch one up.

Her favorite quote was from the Bartender toward the beginning: "Tequila? Uh, ees like beer."

Averia's favorite Amigo is Ned Nederlander, so I stuck him in the middle.

Oh those crazy amigos!

Fionna and Cake Stitchery!

From Adventure Time, Fionna and Cake (backstory info).
Fanfic from the Ice King himself, has gotten quite the following. I loved the twist on my beloved Finn and Jake.

This hoopla I stitched up for Queenofmarigold in the IYP R22 Swap. The french knots were screaming to be done as fill-in for Fionna's hat and Cake's fur!

I hope they continue to make more episodes with this alternative universe.
It's RHOMBUS the cleverness that show has!

A Note to my Readers!

As you may (or may not) have noticed, I've been posting a lot of older stuff lately.

I do this to have a little record of my crafts, but there's also a more fun reason than that.

I am addicted to the swaps on Craftster.org and am always crafting stuff for that; I don't want my partners to get wind of until they receive it.

There's a certain type of stalking we swappers do. Any swapper worth their salt would probably be checking out their partners blog at least once during crafting time. I've had it happen to me, they posted what had been made before the package was mailed to me. Surprise was squelched!

So please, dear reader forgive me my old crafts and never fear,
I'll be posting what I make for swaps as soon as my partners post in the swap gallery! :D

Selleck Drink Coasters!

I sewed these quilted coasters for BoyceMachine in the Spell Your Name R6 Swap! Way back in 2011!

Again, Fabric Marker Love goin' on here.
I printed out a t-shirt Magnum PI era image and cut out a stencil from that. I want to say this was my very first foray into fabric marker obsession.

This was where I found out that these markers don't actually run when wet.
I had to test it out, I just HAD TO!
Sometimes, I don't trust labels.

Here's the opening theme...I DARE you not to watch it!
If the video doesn't work here's a link to awesomeness!
(This is my first try at sticking a you tube video to a post...he he)

Hero of Canton!

Firefly.
Jane Cobb.
A hat that will go down as one of the essential "must make" projects if you consider yourself a fanboy/fangirl who also happens to knit awesome stuff.
(There's also a certain scarf in that category which you'll most likely see in a post soon.)
The hat has been knitted up several times by me, but the quote that goes with the hat needed to be immortalized as well.

And the back of the hoop I liked to think of as Browncoat issued underpants fabric!

There are rumors everywhere that a continuation of Firefly is in the works.
Let's hope it's not just rumor.
And...
Let's aim to misbehave!!!!!
